E-DRUG: IATT Paediatric ARV Formulary and Limited-Use List
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear E-drug friends,
The 2016 update to the IATT Paediatric ARV Formulary and Limited-Use List
has now been officially endorsed by both WHO and UNICEF and is posted
online. This edition reflects the 2016 WHO Consolidated Guidelines and
takes account of changes in the markets. Click here for the updated list:
This week the IATT team responsible for the Formulary, also known as the
optimal list, is meeting in Geneva to review usage of the list and to
identify gaps in usage, or areas where non-optimal formulations are still
in widespread use. The latest list available on the line from the link
above also includes contact points for advice on use of the list.
The Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on the Prevention and Treatment of HIV
Infection in Pregnant Women, Mothers and Children is focused on meeting the
needs of paediatric patients, among the most challenging to treat. The
formulary serves as guidance for national programs, procurement agencies,
funders, and manufacturers to select optimal paediatric dosage forms to
help ensure that the treatment needs of these vulnerable children are met.
Working towards an AIDS-free generation,
Kind Regards
David Jamieson
