[e-drug] Information wanted on ARV Dispensing Guidelines For Children (2)

E-DRUG: Information wanted on ARV Dispensing Guidelines For Children (2)
---------------------------------------------

Dear Salisu:

You are asking for information about pediatric ARV "dispensing". There is
information on treatment guidelines which may be of some assistance. If you
are looking for pediatric ARV treatment guidelines (and you must also
include guidelines for delivery of medicines for opportunistic infections)
then you can start at the WHO website or the sites
www.columbiaicap.org and
www.mtctplus.org for the Columbia University MTCT program. Also, look at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website
http://aidsinfo.nih.gov/guidelines/.
As I am not a clinician I hesitate to recommend anything more specific.

Indeed, it is an unfortunate circumstance. Notwithstanding this apparent
lack of information on 'dispensing', I wonder out loud if the Nigerian
pharmaceutical management system is/will be able to deal with the
quantification, procurement, selection, etc. of these complex pediatric ARV
regimens.
