E-DRUG: ISIUM needs members
---------------------------
[Your E-drug and E-lek moderators Wilbert and Liliya attended the recent ISIUM conference in Bangkok, and we felt that ISIUM is very needed to keep the momentum in rational use of medicines.
We strongly urge you to join ISIUM. Rational use of medicines has always been one of our biggest challenges. Below an extract of what ISIUM founding directors Mary Murray (chair) and Mary Hemming wrote to the conference participants.
We strongly recommend you look at the ISIUM conference presentations, and if possible, become a member of ISIUM.
The ISIUM conference presentations are available at: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1a0bMKev_yfLLAakuuqtLd4CW2rKjLpqY
E-drug will also cover the conference report once it comes out.

WB]
Dear colleagues,
Thank you so much for making the effort to attend ISIUM's First International Conference in Bangkok in January. As you would realise, it took a lot of hard work to make it happen, but the obvious success of the meeting made it all worthwhile. It brought together so many people who have a vision, enthusiasm, generosity of spirit, and a stated willingness to work together to bring about a better world where rational drug use is the norm.
Now, after all the excitement and the interesting presentations and discussions, there is a lull, and it is tempting to fall back into doing what we do every day and hope that a follow-up opportunity will occur. It would be a shame for that to happen. Rather let's build on the amazing energy and passion that was apparent at the conference and help us establish a platform for us all to connect, not only at conferences but in an ongoing way.
This is a big challenge. But if we build the membership base of ISIUM and muster our resources we will be able to find the energy to build this platform together.
ISIUM can only operate and flourish if it has a healthy membership. Of the 170 people who attended the conference, only about 30 are members of ISIUM.
We need you to join ISIUM!
An online membership application form is at https://www.isium.org/membership-application/
As a member you will be encouraged to participate in the development of a working plan to move things forward. So help us to move to the next stage. Offer your thoughts, skills, time and anything else that you are good at. As champions of RUM, consider spending a little of your time and make a commitment to help us go forward and create a culture, practical opportunities and an agenda for this important and increasingly neglected area.
The directors of ISIUM are currently preparing for a Board meeting later in March. One important issue that will be considered is the development of a 'Members Only' section of the website. The main idea behind this is that it will make it easy for people to find others with common interests thus encouraging collaboration on different activities and the evolution of communities of practice. Other membership issues will be considered by the Board including the option for life membership.
Do join!
