E-DRUG: ISIUM Update
----------------------
Dear friends and colleagues,
It's hard to believe that seven months have flown by since we all came together for ISIUM's First International Conference in Bangkok! The world has changed dramatically since then with COVID-19 touching almost every corner of the world. We hope all of you and your families are safe and well.
The ISIUM board came away excited from the Conference - remembering the experience, the amazing energy and the commitment to re-boot the rational use of medicines movement. So many told us that they will join ISIUM. We are now reaching out to invite those of you of you who are members to invite other like-minded friends and colleagues to be part of the platform connecting us so we can combine forces and make a real difference.
Building a healthy membership will help us work together to fulfil the goals of ISIUM and address the recommendations from the conference. We encourage you to please forward this message and invite others to join us. An online membership application form is at https://www.isium.org/membership-application/
Why Join ISIUM?
ISIUM is a unique organisation where members are not only able, but are encouraged, to shape the future of the reinvigorated rational use of medicines movement.
On joining ISIUM, you will be invited to provide some information about yourself – your areas of interest, your experience, expertise and skills (Note: ISIUM will only share this information with other ISIUM members). This register of information is particularly useful as it will allow you to find out who your fellow members/colleagues are, what work they do, which other members have similar interests, where they work, and how to make contact with them. This easy access to fellow members will open up opportunities for collaboration and work in the field we are all passionate about.
You will also receive an ISIUM newsletter every 6 months. This includes articles on interesting projects and initiatives being undertaken around the world, profiles of individual members and their work, as well as any other important activities, meetings/webinars and papers being planned. The intention of the newsletter is to encourage links and networks around the globe.
Specific benefits for individuals include:
1. Networking
- assistance and support to forge and develop new contacts
- build networks with like-minded people
- deepen existing relationships
- access to experts in different aspects of rational use of medicines
- help build registers of experts in different regions of the world for the media to contact
2. Getting involved
- engage in, and contribute to, any current discussions
- initiate new discussions on current and controversial topics
- start a conversation on an issue you feel is neglected
- get involved in projects of interest
3. Keeping informed
- access to the latest innovative thinking, resources, tools and information that are available or are being developed in the world of medicines
- access to events, meetings and webinars
- attend conferences/meeting and have opportunities to be an active member in various capacities
- discounted registration fees for conferences
- contribute articles to ISIUM newsletters, individually or as a group, thus providing an opportunity for members to polish their communication skills and learn about the advances in their field
4. Continuing education/professional development
- access to opportunities for 'internships' with ISIUM member organisations
- upgrade knowledge or acquire new skills through workshops and conferences
- priority registration and member rates for conferences organised by ISIUM
