----------------------------------------------------------
Does anyone have a preference for antimalaial prophylaxis in pregnancy,
especially in high resistance areas?
Thanks,

[Note from moderator: Extensive guidelines on prevention of malaria has been
issued in the UK (download from http://www.phls.co.uk/CDSC/Site_fr4.htm,
guidelines not mentioning pregnancy explicitly are found in JAMA
1997;278:1767-71 and Medical Letter 1998;40:1-12. Adverse Drug Reaction
Bulletin states in issue 164 February 1994: The maxim that drugs should be
avoided in pregnancy is sound, but chloroquine does not seem to be
teratogenic and its use is advisable if exposure to malaria is unavoidable.
