E-DRUG: Management of guidelines

Hello all,
I would like to ask you several questions regarding standardisation of
health-care.
In the Czech Republic we can see rapid development of various guidelines
regarding diagnostic and therapeutic management of diseases. These
guidelines have been in process of standardisation. The possibilities of
their influence on everyday practice, e.g. as the care protocols in adjusted
form, are highly discussed.
Could you give me a brief summary how management standards or guidelines are
implemented in daily practice in your countries?
What is the legal or professional status of disease management guidelines or
therapeutic guidelines?
Are "care protocols" or "care maps" used in health-care facilities?
Could you advice me some Internet sources of above mentioned materials?
