E-DRUG: Meeting on Essential Medicines, Complutense University of Madrid (Spain)

Dear friends,
Next November 11th, will be held at the Complutense University of Madrid
the *Day on Essential Medicines*, an initiative that has been promoted from
a group of academics and clinicians from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
to raise awareness on the importance of the WHO List of Essential Medicines
as a tool of public health and also about the limitation that still exists
in the access to medicines in many countries of the world.
The key activity of this initiative will be the *I University Meeting on
Essential Medicines*. It will be structured around four thematic areas
(Science and Education, Politics, Economics and Pharmaceutical Industry,
Solidarity and Cooperation) in which experts from different fields will
offer us their view on aspects related to essential medicines as:
· *The Model List of Essential Medicines and their impact on health
care*
· *Rational use of medicines*
· *Patents and generics*
· *The cost of medicines*
· *Policies on essential medicines*
· *Essential medicines and cooperation *
· *Donations of medicines*
With this message directed to individuals and organizations working in this
field, we would like invite you to participate in this meeting in which
your experience and contributions will be of great interest to our
University community. The program is still in preparation, for it in this
first contact we would like to know your availability and wishes to
participate and the subject of your possible presentation.

the opportunity to share with you this first University Day on Essential
Medicines at the Complutense University of Madrid next November.
