[e-drug] MSF Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines

E-DRUG: MSF Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines
--------------------------------------------------

Dear Michelle and e-druggers,

Does MSF Campaign for Access to Essential
Medicines have plans to start a global campaign
discussion forum to engage all stakeholders around this issue?

We (HIFA2015) are a global network campaigning
for access to healthcare information in LMICs and
we want to identify and collaborate with a
similar network on access to medicines, but we
cannot find one. There is an IP-Health forum
(thanks to Joanna Keenan MSF for notifying me
about this) and of course there is e-drug itself.
IP-Health forum appears to be specialised to IP
issues. e-Drug is currently a community of
interest, although it does I think have potential
to become a dynamic campaign forum as well.

By way of introduction, HIFA2015 (Healthcare
Information For All by 2015) is a global campaign
and knowledge network administered by the Global
Healthcare Information Network, a non-profit
organisation working to improve the quality of
health care in developing countries. HIFA2015
brings together more than 5000 health workers,
librarians, publishers, researchers and
policymakers in 2000 organisations across 158
countries worldwide, all committed to a common
goal: By 2015, every person worldwide will have
access to an informed health care provider.
One-third of members are based in Africa,
one-third in Europe, and one-third in the rest of
the world. Together we are working for a future
where people are no longer dying for lack of
basic healthcare knowledge. We interact on five forums:
1. HIFA2015
2. CHILD2015 in collaboration with ICHG/RCPCH
3. HIFA2015-Portuguese in collaboration with WHO, Geneva
4. HIFA-EVIPNet-French in collaboration with WHO, Geneva
5. HIFA-Zambia in collaboration with the Zambia UK Health Workforce Alliance
HIFA2015 has received financial support from the
British Medical Association, British Nursing
Index, ePORTUGUESe/World Health Organization,
International Child Health Group, Lancet, Network
for Information and Digital Access, Royal College
of Midwives, Royal College of Nursing, THET
