E-DRUG: non-commercial diseases / neglected diseases (4)
-------------------------------------------------------

Dear Ans,

Thank-you very much for taking on board some of my comments
although not all of them were stringently related to your
presentation.

I wonder if you could add, maybe with one or two lines in your
presentation, something else whicg I think is extremely important. I
know it is drugs you are talking about and this forum is about
drugs. However, as the main cause of diarrhoeal diseases is poor
sanitation, in particular water contamination, could't you put one or
two lines about this ? I mean, the real turning point for the massive
health improvement in the north of the world was the
understanding of the pathogenic role of water contamination, plus
of course the identification of the various agents of major diseases
and the development of vaccines against some of them.

Without improvement in living conditions, especially access to
clean water there is only so much that can be done with drugs.

The spread of TB is also to a substantial extent linked to poor living
standards.

Apologies if this comment might be a bit out of context,

Valeria
