[Strongly recommended for developing countries that want to set up or strengthen their pharmacovigilance systems; WB]
Dear E-drug members,
The WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring in
Sweden, the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (the UMC), is announcing its
eleventh International Pharmacovigilance Training course, to be held
14-26 May 2007 in Uppsala, Sweden.
The training course is for health-care professionals (e.g. physicians,
pharmacists, nurses) who have recently become engaged or will soon
become engaged in the practical operation of pharmacovigilance
programmes in a hospital, regulatory, university or industry setting.
The aim of the course is primarily to support the development of
programmes for the spontaneous reporting of adverse reactions to
medicines and medicinal products (including vaccines).
There will be two modules to the course: Module I will cover adverse
reactions to medicines and Spontaneous reporting. Module II will offer a
choice of one of two options: 1. an introduction to pharmacoepidemiology
or 2. effective communications in pharmacovigilance.
You could register for Module I or Module II or both. Candidates will
have to bear their own expenses for the training, including course fees,
travel and accommodation.
