E-DRUG: Pharmacy Laws (6)
----------------------------
Dear colleagues - Another point to check when updating Pharmacy legislation.
Most of the colonial based old legislation I have seen covers the standards
of pharmacists (the people) and their performance as well as
pharmaceuticals-related aspects.
However, when reviewing legislation in preparation for updating we have
discovered in some places that a fairly recent Act has been made in the
country that covers all health practitioners. For example the Medical
Services Act in one Pacific Island Country and Health Professionals Act in another and in my own country (Australia) the legislation has been split recently too and we have a Health Practitioners Act. These Acts cover the qualifications and registration procedures for Doctors, pharmacists, nurses and others that used to be included in eg the Pharmacy and Poisons Act or the Medical Act, etc.
So it is worth checking to know whether a separate newer Act dealing with
the actual people has been prepared. If so, you won't need to put those
aspects in your new pharmacy legislation but there will be a cross
reference.
Best wishes for updating
