E-DRUG: PharmWeb - News and Developments

Firstly, many apologies to those of you who have links to specific pages on
PharmWeb and are wondering where the pages have gone! The directory
structure of PharmWeb has been modified to accommodate future expansion and
links to all pages except the home page have changed. The URL for the
PharmWeb home page is still:

http://www.mcc.ac.uk/pharmweb/

If you have a link to PharmWeb on your pages could you please check this
URL as many sites are still using older URL's which will not work for much
longer.

*** We expect to move to a new server in the near future. This move will
further increase the speed of PharmWeb and also introduce many new
facilities. Unfortunately, me may have to change our URL. If you use
PharmWeb and would like to know when this change occurs then please
register on the PharmWeb Directory
(http://www.mcc.ac.uk/pharmweb/directory.html) as we will be notifying
users via the PharmWeb mailing list ****

There have also been quite a few developments on PharmWeb since the last
update. To summarise:

1) The Pharmaceutical Press are now on PharmWeb. Information on books,
journals, pharmacopoeias, cd-roms etc. relevant to pharmacy may be found on
these pages.

2) The PharmWeb Appointments pages have been updated. Job vacancies in
pharmacy and related professions may be found in these pages. Information
may now be submitted by simply filling an online form. If you would like to
see this service develop please inform the Personnel Department of your
organisation.

3) The Red Cross have developed a series of pages (including information on
First Aid) on PharmWeb.

4) A list of countries that have accessed the Manchester PharmWeb servers
has been produced. Approximately 70 countries have accessed the Manchester
PharmWeb servers alone.

5) PharmWeb Yellow Pages created: a directory of companies, pharmacies,
hospitals etc. on the Internet.

6) UKCRS: The UK branch of the Controlled Release Society develop several
new pages.

7) New Mirror Sites: new PharmWeb mirror sites become available in
Australia and South Africa.

8) A "What's New" page has been created and can be accessed from the
PharmWeb home page. The page contains information and links to all the
above developments.

Access statistics continue to increase and we would like to thank everyone
that has used PharmWeb and all the positive feedback and support. Current
access is approaching 7,000 page requests per week from the Manchester
servers alone. We have many more new developments planned on PharmWeb,
however, future expansion will depend on support from the pharmacy and
pharmaceutical sciences community. PharmWeb may be supported by:

1) maintaining your company/society pages on PharmWeb
2) publicising your conferences on PharmWeb
3) using PharmWeb Appointments
4) Sponsorship
