E-drug: Policy on Drug Donations (cont'd)

After the interagency guidelines on drug donations were
published I wrote to the Canadian government regarding its
policy on drug donations. The reply that I received said that
while Canada considers the guidelines useful and appropriate it
has not endorsed them or approved them since it was not
"invited" to do either. The International Affairs Directorate of
Health Canada has brought the guidelines to the attention of
Canadian organizations that are involved with drug donations.
Canada does not require an export license before donated
drugs are sent out of the country, but will issue one if it is
requested by the receiving country.
