E-DRUG: donations guidelines (cont)
-----------------------------------
I am not sure that Canada has either endorsed the Interagency Guidelines
for Drug Donations or has issued its own national guidelines. I wrote to
Health Canada on this topic a couple of years ago. Here is a quote that I
received from the Director General of the International Affairs Directorate
of Health Canada in a letter from June 1997:
"Canada considers the Guidelines useful and appropriate, but was not
invited to endorse or approve them."
Things may have changed in the interim but I am not aware of any changes.

[Maybe someone from WHO/EDM can answer the question whether countries have
been asked to formally ratify them or to comment on it as a voluntary
guideline? Judging from Canadian MOH response, a request by WHO might
influence their status in Canada. WB]
