E-DRUG: Promoting Rational Drug Use Training materials

E-DRUG: Promoting Rational Drug Use Training materials on the web
------------------------------------------------------------------
Many people have attended the Promoting Rational Drug Use course when it
has been held in Africa and Asia over the past 10 years. With the technical
and financial support of WHO/DAP and the involvement of many people in
different countries, the training materials have been revised and updated
and are now available on the Web. The address is
http://dcc2.bumc.bu.edu/prdu/default.html

On the these materials we have put in links to some of the posters on the
excellent ICIUM site held at the WHO site
http://www.who.int/dap-icium/index.html .
A problem many people in developing countries face is that Web access is so
expensive. To address this we have put the PRDU materials on CD-ROM and
these will be used for the first time to produce the course materials for
the Ghana and Indian courses. Once we see how this experiment goes we will
see how these CD-ROMs could be distributed to libraries etc.

The work to do this conversion was considerable and a great deal was done
by Amy Talhouk, a computer specialist in our department. She attended the
Nepal course and learned about Drug Use as well as what people needed in
the field.

My personal thanks go to WHO, INRUD members and support groups and the many
other people who made this project possible. Obviously these materials will
always be in need of revision as the field and experience expands.

Please send any comments on the materials to me (richardl@bu.edu).
