E-DRUG: Re: Malaria Prophylaxis in Pregnancy (4)

E-drug: Re: Malaria Prophylaxis in Pregnancy (4)
----------------------------------------------------------

The Malaria Control Programme in Kenya recommends two doses of
sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine(SP) as prophylaxis in pregnant women in
endemic areas. The first dose (3 tablets) is given at the beginning of
the second trimester and the second dose is given at the beginning of the
third trimester.
Though the recommendation has been made, the implementation of the
recommendation has not taken place.
