[e-drug] Repeat ordering on antibiotic prescriptions (cont'd)

E-drug: Repeat ordering on antibiotic prescriptions (cont'd)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Zimbabwe, the law would allow a doctor to prescribe antibiotics
with up to 5 repeats i.e. six supplies in total, as with any other
Prescription Preparation other than Narcotics/Dangerous Drugs. The
quantity per prescription/supply is also up to the prescriber. It
would be up to the pharmacist to challenge either the quantity or
number of repeats if it was felt to be inappropriate. In my limited
experience, the only antibiotic scripts with that many repeats have
been tetracyclines for acne.
