The product is still official in latest edition of British Pharmacopoeia &
Ph. Eur. proving its safety and efficacy. You can get the pharmeutical
monograph from the BP.
Its clinical monograph is given in Martindale which doesn't give bad picture
about its safety and efficacy. Martindale also lists various clinical
references as well as preparations still marketed in Europe under the name
Dicynene / Dicynone / Dicinone / Altodor / Eselin etc.
