E-DRUG: RFI: Reimbursement as barriers to pharmaceutical care
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dear e-druggers,
I am doing a project on this topic and I will be very
grateful if I could have an understanding of the
medicines act and other regulatory barriers to the
practice of pharmaceutical care and the various fees
paid by government or even patients for services
offered by pharmacists in the various countries we
represent. I would be grateful to get feed back too on
how alliances and collaborations have helped to
overcome some of these barriers.
Many thanks.

[dear Funmi, E-drug is a global community, and laws are different in each
country. From your name I would guess this refers to Nigeria - please
confirm.
Medicines Acts are normally to protect the public against ineffective,
unsafe and poor quality medicines. Contact NAFDAC for more info if you are
in Nigeria. The implementation of drug legislation is sometimes seen as a
barrier as it might delay introduction of new medicines . However, there are
plenty of trusted essential drugs around for good pharmaceutical care, in my
view. Anyway, let's hear what E-druggers have to say about this. Wilbert
