Dear E-Druggers,
I am looking for any information from the field on specific World Bank
initiatives that deal with pharmaceutical issues, such as suggesting
national policies, price controls, privitization of government controlled
companies, intellectual property policies concerning pharmaceuticals,
etc. I need to know the country, the type of project, the time frame and
any World Bank contacts.
I am currently exploring the implications these structural adjustment
programs have upon people's ability to gain access to needed
pharmaceuticals and health care inventions. Any information or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,

Information on financed Worldbank projects is in principle public.
Some public info on Worldbank project can be found at their website:
http://www.worldbank.org/
Use the search option with keyword "pharmaceutical".
However, details are best obtained from individual desk officers.
The Worldbank had a specific pharaceutical adviser, but there is
currently a vacancy. See also earlier E-drug messages on IFPMA
sponsorship of a Worldbank pharmaceutical adviser.
