E-DRUG: TB Workshop: Partnerships to Strengthen TB Pharmaceutical & Laboratory Service Delivery

Management Sciences for Health's USAID funded Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS) Program in collaboration with Stop TB's Global Drug Facility (GDF) will be holding a day long workshop at the 42nd Union World Conference on Lung Disease in Lille, France on Thursday October 27, 2011. The Building and Empowering Partnerships to Strengthen TB Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Service Delivery workshop will discuss how effective partnerships have promoted and built country capacities to provide pharmaceutical services and to address the threat of emerging drug resistance.
The objective of the workshop is to bring experiences and best practices of how public private partnerships improved medicine selection, procurement, distribution, quality assurance, rational use, pharmaceutical policies and regulations to the forefront. The workshop will also aim to provide an opportunity to share experiences of public private partnerships in addressing the development and spread of drug resistant tuberculosis.

2. Partnerships for improved access to drug supply to ensure sustained access to quality medicines (Caroline Bogren GDF/Switzerland)
3. Impact of donor Support on TB Pharmaceutical Systems. The Global Drug Facility Experience (Niranjan Konduri MSH/USA)
4. Brazil: Partnerships for successful uptake of FDCs, new data management information system and laboratory accreditation system. (Dr Margareth Dalcolmo, Director of the Helio Fraga Reference Center for TB - Rio de Janeiro - Fiocruz/Ministry of Health and Dr Joël Keravec / MSH Brazil)
5. Building partnerships for supporting scale-up of the drug-resistant TB program and strengthening second line medicine management in Indonesia (Ibu Dyah Mustikawati NTP/MoH Indonesia)
6. Tanzania: Building public-private coalition to prevent the development and spread of drug resistant TB (Dr. Edmund Rutta MSH/USA)
