E-DRUG: the Global Village and essential drugs (contd)

I do not agree with Marthe Everard's definition (Ref E-DRUG posting
dated Sept 09, 1998) that a drug is "a chemical product with
information". I think that a drug is a "a chemical product with
information and a means of safe delivery". Without the last part of the
definition a drug has the potential to do great harm. Remember it only
needs 0.04 microlitres of infective material to transmit hepatitis B,
and WHO estimates that between 15% and 50% of injections in developing
countries are not safe.
