E-RUG: UWC 2021 Online Module in Rational Medicines Use
----------------------------------------------------------
Dear E-Druggers,
As mentioned in another message I am posting information about Online Module in Rational Medicines Use offered by the University of Western Cape in 2021. This course has been running for many years usually taught as a one week face to face course in Cape Town combined with an on line course taught between July and November.
A number of participants have written their Master's mini theses and most recently a PhD based on what they have learned in these courses. The PhD student now teaches on the course. She looked at medicine use in Eswatini (previously Swaziland). She found that 25% of prescriptions for NCDs such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and arthritis included treatment with antibiotics!
So if you are interested in improving the quality of care for common conditions including NCDs or improving the use of antibiotics or looking at the effect of Covid on regular health services this is the course for you.
One of the strengths of this course is that by combining MPH and Continuing Education students different experiences and insights are gathered in some fascinating discussions!
I have posted another announcement about the Pharmaceutical Policy and Management Online module at UWC so do please consider that course as well.
