medico international e.V. in Frankfurt is looking for a:

Pharmaceutical Field Assistant

for a humanitarian relief project in South-West Algeria, refugee camps near Tindouf.

Period: foreseen: 2 missions of max. 3 months each during September 2012 to April 2013

Location: Mainly Rabouni/Tindouf, if necessary travels to Oran or Algiers.

Reports to: Project Coordinator Algeria, Project Manager mi- Frankfurt
General Description: medico international implements a project of medical drug supply for Saharawi refugees in four camps in the desert of South-West Algeria with financial support from the European Commission Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG ECHO).

We are looking for a qualified person to support our field office in Rabouni near Tindouf and to conduct the monitoring of drug distributions and dispensation in the health institutions of the camps which are run by our partner, the Saharawi Ministry of Health. Furthermore, the pharmaceutical field assistant supports the monitoring of medical waste management facilities and works in close cooperation with the project coordinator on all other issues related to the implementation of the project, especially with regard to supplies of medicines and medical consumables and the overall condition of health institutions.

Your qualification:

- Experience in monitoring of humanitarian aid
- Previous experience in pharmacy management or comparable education in the field of medical/drugs supplies
- Good understanding of general technical and logistical issues
- Languages: Spanish or Arabic and English, French will be an asset
- Ability to work in a difficult environment
- Flexible to take over other tasks when necessary
- Experience with ECHO-funded projects will be an asset
- Knowledge on medical waste management considered an asset

The salary is based on our in-house payment grid.
