E-drug: Wrong diagnosis and poor nursing (cont'd)

Where are the pharmacists in these institutions? The pharmacist
should be able to provide guidance on all aspects of drug use
including administration. Pharmacists in Africa (at least in Kenya)
need to move away from the dispensing window, away from being
providers of products into participating in patient management. The
pharmacist ought to take responsibility if drugs are not administered
accordingly, stored properly ETC. I recognise that pharmacists may
be in short supply but one pharmacist can do rounds in several
health institutions and do our job instead of leaving all to the nurse.
We have a role to play in this aspect.
