Strengthening NGO Partnerships through Governance and Leadership De-
velopment
Conference objectives:
1. Understand the current situation of NGO governance and leadership
2. Formulate a framework for pilot NGO capacity building activities
in governance and leadership
3. Develop a mechanism for NGO partnership in sub-Saharan Africa
The format will be a combination of plenary sessions, group sessions,
workshops and exhibitions. These will be geared towards sharing ex-
periences in the field of governance and leadership and expounding on
the findings of the study on NGO governance and leadership.
The conference will be officially opened by Kenya's Vice President.
The keynote address will be given by H.E. Dr. Specioza W. Kazibwe,
Vice President of Uganda on Ugandan leadership experience in working
with all sectors in the area of reproductive health, with focus on
HIV and AIDS. There will be a technical presentation by Prof. Henry
Mosley from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health on Principles of
good governance and leadership development. CAFs Mary T. Mujomba will
present findings on Situation Analysis of NGO Governance and Leader-
ship.
There will be three country experiences shared from Uganda, Senegal
and Kenya and four programme experiences. Uganda's country experience
will be shared by none other than H.R.H the Nnabagereka of Buganda,
Queen Sylvia Naginda.
Finally, the closing remarks will be made by Dr. Thoraya Obaid, Ex-
ecutive Director, United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA) and then
the conference will be officially closed by Hon. Prof. Sam Ongeri,
M.P., E.G.H., Minister for Public Health, Kenya
