AMREF 2005 Training Programme
-----------------------------

Happy New Year! I have the pleasure to introduce to you the AM-
REF training programme for the year 2005. Our aim is to provide
relevant, accessible and cost-effective training of the highest
quality that is geared towards the promotion of solutions to Af-
rican health and socioeconomic problems. On offer this year are
a series of short courses and the one-year Diploma in Community
Health whose details can be found in the link
http://www.amref.org/shortcourses.htm

The short courses are designed for middle and senior management
personnel working in public and private sectors including NGOs,
CBOs, religious organizations, donor agencies and government
ministries. However, you may wish to discuss tailor-made pro-
grammes specifically to meet your own needs. We would be happy
to discuss this with you.

AMREF has been training health and health related professionals
through out Africa for over 46 years now and recognizes the fun-
damental role of training in sustainable development and has
given it a key role in its new corporate strategic plan. We have
a modern fully equipped Training Center along Lang'ata road,
Nairobi opposite the Wilson Airport where most of the training
is conducted. Conference facilities are also on hire at the
Training Centre for your next conference. In addition to train-
ing we also offer Consultancy Services to governments in Africa
primarily in the area of Health Training (Human Resource Devel-
opment in Health) and Research. Our Health Learning Materials
Unit produces relevant scholastic materials for mid level care
providers for the continent and beyond. We currently have a HLM
Kit comprising of 25 books for rural health care workers. The
AMREF Library too, is quite resourceful. It holds the most up-
to-date health related resource materials in the region. It of-
fers modern technology in information access, information man-
agement and dissemination.
