The *Awards for Action on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights* jointly awarded by the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and Human Rights Watch — recognize excellence and long-term commitment to work having a direct impact on HIV/AIDS and human rights issues, in particular work that is of direct relevance to marginalized individuals and communities. An award is presented annually to one Canadian and one international recipient.
This year, the Canadian winner will be announced at the Legal Network's annual general meeting in Ottawa on June 16, while the international winner will be announced at the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City in August.
Nominations are invited both for individuals and organizations working at the community level and for those operating at national and international levels. Nominations may be submitted in English, French, Spanish or Russian.
Canadian recipient nominations must be received before *5 p.m. EDT on Friday, May 9, 2008*. International recipient nominations must be received before *5 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2008*.
