We are seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
Technical Advisor, OVC (Arlington, VA)
To provide technical leadership in Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVC) programming for the Public Health Programs (PHP) of FHI. Main responsibilities include: Provide technical direction and ensure the highest quality of OVC activities of the Public Health Programs through technical input, capacity building and supervision of OVC staff and management of the portfolio; Coordinate and manage activities and technical assistance priorities of staff, consultants and other resource agencies in carrying out the PHP's OVC activities; Stimulate and act as a resource for the development of innovative and expanded responses in OVC through the active involvement of a Global Technical Leadership Team. Master's Degree or equivalent in Public Health or the psychosocial sciences, qualified in child development or welfare with 7-9 years experience. At least seven years experience in the field of children's issues, four of which needs to include working in developing countries. Fluency in French or Spanish is preferred.
Associate Director, Information Programs (Arlington, VA)
To manage the unit responsible for 1) identifying the most pressing print and electronic resource needs of FHI's Public Health Programs, and 2) managing their production and distribution within FHI and among external audiences. Main responsibilities include: Develop IP's strategy for producing and disseminating materials for and about PHP's work, including tools, manuals and curricula to assist field staff, lessons learned and success stories to document our achievements and various other print and electronic resources as needed; Maintain the unit as the primary service point for PHP staff on editorial, graphic design and web matters; Develop the unit's annual workplan and budget; and Perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor's Degree in health or communication-related field and minimum of seven years experience in writing, editing and publishing. Five years relevant management experience required. Website content production and dissemination experience desired. Experience must reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above. Fluency in French and/or Spanish desired.
Deputy Director for Technical Support, Indonesia
Provides technical expertise, leadership and guidance to public health programs and research managed by FHI/Indonesia with an emphasis on HIV and AIDS. Main responsibilities include: Provide technical and programmatic vision and leadership to FHI/Indonesia public health programs and program and technical staff; Supervise and build the capacity of chiefs of program, technical and research units in the Jakarta office; Lead development of strategies for rapid scale-up of HIV and AIDS prevention, care and treatment interventions as well as other public health programs; and Perform other duties as assigned. MD or PhD in public health or related field and 10 or more years relevant experience in international HIV/AIDS programs at senior management level. HIV/AIDS program experience in an Asian country preferred. Training and/or experience in clinical research required. English and knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia skills a plus.
Deputy Director, Zambia
As a member of the ZPCT Senior Management Team, to participate fully in management and technical oversight of FHI's USAID/Zambia-funded ZPCT Partnership to ensure that the overall project is effectively and efficiently implemented; to supervise the work of the Lusaka Office ZPCT Program Department, including the Program and Community Mobilization Units. To oversee the ZPCT Provincial Offices and to supervise the Provincial Program Managers and other select staff. MA/MS and a minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience managing a large, international public health program that includes 3-5 years supervisory experience; or PhD/MD and 5-7 years relevant experience that includes 3-5 years supervisory experience. Experience must reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
Senior Program Officer, Kenya
As member of a program team, provides program oversight and system improvement/ development for field programs. Main responsibilities include: Provide leadership for projects and/or support country programs in a select region, particularly in large, complex or start-up programs; Provide ongoing programmatic; management; and financial oversight required by projects and/or the regional and country offices; Participate in resource development efforts to identify Resource Development opportunities and lead proposal development teams, as necessary; Build capacity of country offices and implementing partners to manage programming; and Perform other duties as assigned. Position located in Nairobi, Kenya. BS/BA in public health or related field, and 7 - 9 years relevant experience with international development programs; or MS/MA in public health or related field, and 5 - 7 years relevant experience with international development programs. Overseas field experience required.
