We are seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
Technical Advisor, OVC (Arlington, VA)
To provide technical leadership in Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVC) programming for the Public Health Programs (PHP) of FHI. Main responsibilities include: Provide technical direction and ensure the highest quality of OVC activities of the Public Health Programs through technical input, capacity building and supervision of OVC staff and management of the portfolio; Coordinate and manage activities and technical assistance priorities of staff, consultants and other resource agencies in carrying out the PHP's OVC activities; Stimulate and act as a resource for the development of innovative and expanded responses in OVC through the active involvement of a Global Technical Leadership Team. Master's Degree or equivalent in Public Health or the psychosocial sciences, qualified in child development or welfare with 7-9 years experience. At least seven years experience in the field of children's issues, four of which needs to include working in developing countries. Fluency in French or Spanish is preferred.
Associate Director, Lab Sciences (Arlington, VA)
Provides strong management leadership and operational oversight to a USAID-funded program to increase the role of test-based diagnosis of malaria in focus and non-focus countries of the President's Malaria Initiative. Oversees appropriate monitoring of the project , subprojects, sub-awards and sub-awardees to achieve financial, administrative and programmatic goals. Supervises and supports project staff. Works closely and liaises with USAID/Washington to achieve project goals. Works with in-country partners including Ministries of Health and National Malaria Control Programs to strengthen laboratory and rapid test diagnosis of malaria. PhD. in clinical microbiology or related field and 5-7 yrs of experience in malaria diagnostics and laboratory management; or Masters with 7-9 yrs of experience; or BA and 9-11 yrs of experience in malaria diagnostics and laboratory management.
Experience interacting with other government agencies, host country governments, and international organizations. Strong written and oral English language skills and proficient language skills in French or Portuguese. Relevant work experience in 2 malarious geographic areas, preferably in Africa. * Offer is contingent upon award of the proposal.
Country Director, Nigeria (Abuja, Nigeria)
Provides leadership and management oversight for all FHI's portfolio of projects for Nigeria; Oversees operations and, as the primary FHI country representative, ensures strong collaboration between FHI and local government, donors and sponsors. Represents FHI to external donors/sponsors and leads FHI business and resource development efforts in country. Also serves as Project Director or Chief of Party (COP) on the GHAIN project. PhD/MD and 9-11 years relevant experience with international development programs; or MS/MA and 11-13 years relevant experience with international development programs; or BS/BA and 13-15 years relevant experience with international development programs. Experience must include 7-9 years of supervisory experience. Overseas field experience required.
Deputy Director, Program Support (Abuja, Nigeria)
Manages the DFID supported SNR Program functions and deputizes for the Country/Project Director. In this position ensures that FHI/SNR Program goals/results are achieved and that project resources are utilized in accordance with applicable FHI and donor policies and procedures. Responsible for subprojects monitoring to ensure financial, administrative and program quality assurance. Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Director. BS/BA and 9-11 years relevant experience with international development programs and includes 3-5 years of supervisory experience; or MS/MA in public health or related field and 7-9 years relevant experience with international development programs and includes 3-5 years of supervisory experience; or PhD/MD or equivalent degree and 5-7 years relevant experience with international development programs and includes 3-5 years of supervisory experience. Local applicant preferred.
Director, Research, APRO (Bangkok, Thailand)
As a member of FHI's Global Research Group, provides technical and managerial leadership as well as oversight to research activities in the APRO and ensures that the regional research plan matches the strategic and technical guidance of the FHI Global Research Group. Leads APRO efforts in building research management and technical capacity of its staff and partners. Together with the Director, Public Health Programs, APRO and Senior Director, Global Operations, APRO develops a research agenda that supports utilization of research findings and manages a resource development plan to support the research program. MD/PhD in relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience that includes 5 years research supervisory experience.
Senior Technical Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation (Bangkok, Thailand)
In collaboration with FHI/USA, provides leadership and capacity building in monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance/quality improvement (QA/QI) to FHI/s public health programs in the Asia Pacific Region.
BS/BA in public health or related field, and 7-9 years relevant experience in HIV/AIDS, infectious disease or family planning with international development programs; or MS/MA/MPH in public health or related field, and 5 - 7 years relevant experience; or PhD, MD or similar degree with 3 - 5 years relevant experience. Overseas field experience required.
Senior Technical Officer, HIV & IDU (Vietnam)
To provide and manage technical assistance in and ensure the quality of HIV and drug-use related HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment interventions and research in Vietnam and other countries in the Asia Pacific Region. Masters degree or equivalent experience in public health; and at least five years specialized experience in designing and/or providing technical assistance to HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs for injection drug using populations in resource-poor setting; at least two years senior management experience. Experience with U.S. government contractual requirements and experience working in an international NGO/PVO environment desirable. Experience must reflect knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
Director, Shared Services (Abuja, Nigeria)
Manages all financial aspects of USAID/PEPFAR, DfID, GFATM and other funded projects in Nigeria; ensuring efficient oversight of all finance, administrative, contracts, grants and travel activities. Main responsibilities include: Manages and reviews all financial and administrative functions; Ensures that project policies and procedures are consistent with FHI and donor regulations, including USAID/Nigeria policies and procedures; Coordinates the review of subcontracts, sub-agreements, and other obligations; Overseers purchasing of supplies and equipment for project operations; Responsible for overseeing finance functions and reporting by all field offices and project partners; Participates in the development of the office budget and the budgets of project implementing partners (NGOs, research institutions, etc); Manages project materials and equipments; Manages personnel; Conduct regular audits with project partners; Performs other duties as assigned by the Country Director. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (or related) and 11 to 13 years experience in project administration, finance and personnel management, or Master's degree in Business Administration (or related field) and 9 to 11 years experience. Experience with USAID regulations is strongly desired, as is PEPFAR experience. Strong working knowledge of computer programs: Word, Excel, etc.
