INASP-Health is a co-operative network to support the activities of
health information providers in developing countries. Participation is
free of charge and without obligation.

INASP-Health Directory 1999

Providing access to reliable information for health workers in develop-
ing countries is potentially the single most cost-effective and achiev-
able strategy for sustainable improvement in health care.

The INASP-Health Directory aims to facilitate this process by describ-
ing the range of international programmes working to increase the
availability of appropriate, reliable, low-cost information in develop-
ing countries and countries in transition. Intended for use as a refer-
ence and networking tool for all those with an interest in health in-
formation provision, the Directory includes sections on:

- organisations that support book and library development;
- providers of free or low-cost information;
- professional associations and institutions;
- distribution programmes;
- funding agencies.

About INASP: Established in 1992, by the International Council for Sci-
ence (ICSU), INASP is a co-operative network of partners whose aim is
to improve worldwide access to information. In particular its mission
is to improve the flow of information within and between countries, es-
pecially those with less developed systems of publication and dissemi-
nation. The Network's principal objectives are:

(1) to map, support, promote and strengthen existing programmes in-
    volved in the local publication, distribution, access and exchange
    of books, journals and related materials;
(2) to encourage and support new initiatives that will increase local
    publication and general access to quality scientific literature;
    and
(3) to identify methods that will permit the ongoing and sustainable
    exchange and distribution of scientific publications.
