[afro-nets] Intl. Conference on AIDS in Africa

Intl. Conference on AIDS in Africa
----------------------------------

People attending the ICASA (Int. Conf. on AIDS in Africa, Dec 4-
9) and the PACANET (Dec 2-3) (FBO network in Africa) satellite
are - privately - speaking of GENOCIDE.

The combination of a growing AIDS epidemic, combined with TB,
national agricultural collapse due to WTO regulation in a number
of countries, plus the continued brain drain of health staff and
retrenchment of public personnel domestically, all means Afri-
cans feel they are slated for the kill. Further regional tribal
bizarre wars are continuing wherever there are 'interesting' raw
materials, the latest is the Biafra region flare up in Nigeria.

Wasn't the whole point blaming the HIV spread in Africa on al-
leged African promiscuity? Get the rest of the world to think
that "unsafe sex" is the first "risk factor" for a "high burden
of Disease" as WHO and other UN documents state all the time in
world health analysis.

The NGO Safe Observer organized a 250 people satellite in ICASA
on the headline "HIV? Sex isn't everything, dirty needles spread
HIV". It was opened by ICASA president, Pr Femi Soyinka and in-
cluded the participation of many partners involved in fighting
blood related exposure to HIV - from Safe injection, to social
minded prevention, to PWA leaders, to safe blood bank projects,
to physicians actively involved in promoting a comprehensive ap-
proach to HIV/AIDS.
