Hello everybody, I'm Abiola from Nigeria. I had my first degree in Human Anatomy and I'm presently doing my MPH, Environmental Health Science. I seriously need a research topic that I can do within the space of 5months. I ll prefer something with direct relation to public health and maybe has some human anatomy details. I really don't want to do a research that will be too biochemical, I'm not a biochemist. Please advise me on the environmental health aspect that I can build my career on especially the ones that is public health concern and that will be easy for me as an anatomist.
Thanks
Abiola

Hello Abiola,
One area that comes to my mind is road traffic accidents or injuries and their anatomical features or manifestations. Does that sound familiar in Nigeria? I remember a Nigerian friend (a doctor) doing research for his MPH on the topic of road traffic accidents (RTA) way back in 1988/89 in Glasgow University. By then RTAs in Uganda were not that bad, but now the situation is so bad I would encourage any public health student to research into that. Is that environmental health or public health enough? I think so, and that might be of interest to State Governments or the Federal Government in Nigeria. I hope you now begin to see the connections. Whatever area you choose in the end, I wish you the best of luck.

One of the areas that is sadly neglected in health work in the Global South is the aging population. This is the new invisible vulnerable and with mortality rate increasing, we have more seniors and cultures in the past were responsible for their care, buy children are moving away to the city and to other countries so they are suddenly alone. A much neglected population.
Best Regards,
Sandra
