Somalia to raise awareness on AIDS

Somalia has not had a government for the last ten years, which meant
that like any other sector, the public health sector was non-
existent!! Now that a transitional government is place, the new
Health Ministry is about to launch a major HIV/AIDS awareness cam-
paign.
The need is so tremendous, they need only the help they can get in
this sector.

Health Ministry Warns Against AIDS

MOGADISHU - The Health Ministry of the Somali Transitional Government
has currently undertaken a health program aimed at orientating the
public towards the dangers of AIDS for the human being.
The Health Vice-Minister, Prof. Osman Mohamud Dufleh, said that the
government was planning to hold symposiums on the prevention of AIDS.
He went on to say that the disease was rampant in Somalia's neighbor-
ing countries, and it was therefore indispensable to raise the aware-
ness of the public.
