This 2005 report by the UK Healthcare Commission details pro-
gress being made by the National Health Service towards: a) Re-
ducing waiting time for specialist Consultant and GP outpatient
services, b) Improving patient involvement in decision making
and the design of care-giving, and c) Reducing health dispari-
ties across socio-economic groups (SEG) in the UK.
Policy makers, analysts, academics, health managers and other
stakeholders engaged in health reform in and out of Africa will
find the report of interest.

2. Consumer access to health information on the Internet: Health
policy implications
The Australia and New Zealand Health Policy Journal recently
published a report titled as above. The report examines the na-
ture of the health information sought by New Zealanders from the
Internet, how respondents use the information, how helpful they
perceive the information to be, and the self-assessed value of
such information.
