E-drug: Brain drain of pharmacists (cont'd)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pay the pharmacists well and they will not run to Britain. In many
African countries pharmacists are left as mere drug dispensers
while other lucrative jobs like research related to drugs, which
would be done properly in collaboration with pharmacists, medical
reps etc are given to nurses and doctors. What do you expect. In
Tanzania for instance only the private sector is currently the saviour
of pharmacists but later on they will remain jobless since the clever
men are nowadays opening part 2 shops which do not need
pharmacists since they claim to sell only OTCs although they
actually sell everything. Government should see that the
pharmacists are utilised well.
