E-DRUG: Central Medical Stores in EE/NIS countries (3)
------------------------------------------------------
Dear Erik,
I couldn't amnswer you erlier because of my visit to Amsterdam.
As far I know in many EE/NIS countries pharmacies and medical stores
are privatized or undergoing this process. Speaking about Baltic countries,
in Latvia and in Lithuania almost all organizations which formed the
Central Medical Stores and the net of state pharmacies are privatized or
undergoing this process. The same applies for other NIS countries. Maybe
this experince could have some regions in Russia but I am not sure
because the policy in this field is highly influenced by WB which means -
privatization.
My last experience is in Tajikistan where we recommended to establish the
non-profit organization for the procurement and distribution of
pharmaceuticals. Tax regulations are the same for all private
organizations, but the legislation differs. Some experience with non-profit
organizations do have our colleagues in Estonia.
However I fully agree with you that idea of non-profit organizations is not
well known in our part of the world.
Would you like to contact my colleagues in Estonia?
Best wishes,
Ilze Aizsilniece
