[e-drug] Disposal of cotrimoxazole syrup

E-drug: Disposal of cotrimoxazole syrup
---------------------------------------------

Dear E-druggers,

A country in Eastern Europe received some donations during the recent
turbulent times. They are left with 53 000 bottles of 100 mL of
cotrimoxazole syrup. (Another inappropriate donation - especially sizewise).
The WHO guidelines for disposal recommends use of cement kilns or
encapsulation with cement in oilbarrels or other drums. In this case, this
means a large number of drums!

Do E-druggers think encapsulation is the preferred method also for syrups,
or does anybody have another bright idea. Emptying them into the water
system is not an option! And return to donor probably too late.
