WHO EDL Drugs needed in Turkey?
Turkey has sufficient production capacity for drugs. The EDL list might
lead a donor to believe that aspirin etc. are useful donations. Not only
does the shipping cost of most drugs far outstrip the cost of the
product in Turkey, most drugs are produced there, and most drugs will
not be needed. So, please wait for official requests by the Government
for specific drugs. Otherwise, send money!
This from someone who is familiar with Turkey, and who worked on the
Harvard study on the impact of drug donations published in 1999.
