E-drug: Essential drugs model list by ATC
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
With reference to discussion on the ATC classification system on
E-drug last year (from 25 June and until August), I have classified
the WHO 1999 list using the ATC classification system. The list can
be found on the WHO site:
http://www.who.int/medicines/organization/par/edl/sections.shtml
click for: WHO 1999 model list by ATC-code including all levels and
including dosage forms.
Another document has been provided by the WHO Collaborating
Centre. It does not include dosage forms and does not have all
subheadings. It is called: Model list according to latest ATC
classification (2002)
If you compare you will unfortunately find some discrepancies, e.g.
because I have moved disinfectants that are only for technical use
(for instruments etc.) out of the group D08 antiseptics and
disinfectants to V07AV Technical disinfectants.
The reason I have included dosage forms, is that for a few
substances the ATC classification varies by dosage form. You will
remember that from last years' discussion.
As mentioned by Wilbert in another E-drug posting, I have also
provided comments on why I think WHO should cliassify the list
using the ATC classification system:
