E-drug: Examples of good drug donation practices
------------------------------------------------------------------------
---

[Atieno, I hope you search E-drug archives although you will probably
find mostly horror stories. Lately, it has been quiet around the topic,
all I have seen are small notcies in Scrip of donations being sent to
e.g. Haiti and other countries in need of medical supplies. Every time I
wonder if they were ethical.... WHO has a website on countries that have
developed donation guidelines, but of course national guidelines in
donor countries in itself cannot solve the problem unless they are
applied. KM]

Dear colleagues,

I am searching for any publications or any information regarding any
agencies that have successfully followed the interagency guidelines for
drug donations (or any other good drug donation guidelines) and any
donation recipients who can vouch for such good practice. The literature
is full of inappropriate practice. I only found one publication in the
BMJ from researchers at Harvard University regarding USA donations that
claimed some good practice in two aspects, but had flaws in the
methodology and analysis.

If you are a drug donor agency and you know you are doing a good job, I
would be glad to get in touch with you. If you are a recipient of
donations and you are happy with what you get, Please let me know too.
We need to promote good practice Thank you.
