E-DRUG: Information required on restrictions for some drugs (2)
------------------------------------------------------------
You may like to include (a) cisapride (restricted
indications, restricted to prescription by
gastro-enterologists) (b) nimesulide (banned for use
in children by European Medicine Evaluation Agency in
EU countries) and Phenylpropanolamine (withdrawn in
most west European and North American countries due to
safety reasons).
One should also keep in mind that many MNC
manufacturers "voluntarily" withdraw molecules that
are under cloud to avoid a ban. This is being used by
Indian manufacturers to claim that there is no need to
restrict the use of such molecules because they "have
not been banned anywhere in the world."
