E-drug: Injectable vitamins used for self-treatment? (cont)
---------------------------------------------
I have a few comments in response to the message from Dr Budiono Santoso.

Profit motives still encourage health personnel to perform
injections, they are getting smart and understand that some
antibiotic may come up with allergy and they thought vitamin should
be less risk.

Puskesmas (Government health center) has its official standard treatment, but
there is always other clinic run by health practitioners (nurses and doctors)
practising this unsafe injection.

I have been involved in teaching about safety of injections but some
practitioners still ignore it.

It is hard to control the black market. Some vendors camouflage
their store as selling the health equipment but others openly put
medicine (oral - parenteral) on their bench, and you will notice
medical professionals walking around to look for the cheapest
products to sell. Who is going to guarantee if it is fake or
expired? The customer is threatened by not just black market vendor
but also by medical professionals.

Indonesia is now in a reform era, where things that are not proper
might emerge to the surface, and maybe things will change.
