UNICEF, the world's leading organization working for the rights of
children, seeks a Technical Specialist for our Supply Division, based in
Copenhagen, Denmark. Under the general guidance of the Contracts Manager
and working together with the unit, the successful applicant will be
responsible for taking proactive action on moving UNICEF's position forward
on cold chain and waste-management related issues and projects. In
addition, the future incumbent will build external relationships,
collaborate with stakeholders and provide advice on technical issues
related to the supply of cold chain and waste management products to
Country Offices, Internal Partners as well as Procurement Services
Customers and other External Partners. The future incumbent will also
support UNICEF's ability to strengthen country capacity in the area of cold
chain and waste management products and supplies.
The key duties include:
Preparing and maintaining technical specifications for cold chain and
waste management.
Technical adjudication of RFQ/ITB/RFPs on cold chain and waste
management products.
Preparing analyses of UNICEF cold chain and waste management supply
background information, recommendations for improving the suitability
and range of products, resulting in more appropriate equipment, better
delivery and lower costs.
Strengthening the technical capacity of UNICEF Country Offices to
respond to external enquiries for cold chain and waste management
supplies and infrastructure.
Expanding UNICEF Supply Division's product mix in cold chain and waste
management supplies and infrastructure.
Supporting the Procurement Services Centre in identifying opportunities
and preparing price quotations for special projects on cold chain and
waste management products and related services.
Identifying priority training and capacity building needs in UNICEF
Country Offices to respond to external queries.
Conducting market research on sourcing for extended range of cold chain
and waste management products.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Advanced university degree in refrigeration engineering or other
technical related field. Studies in business administration an asset.
Minimum five years of progressively relevant professional experience,
preferably in an international organization such as WHO, World Bank etc.
Extensive hands-on working experience in technical area.
Sales/marketing experience in private sector, or experience in
institutional procurement of cold chain and waste management products.
Current knowledge of the latest developments and technology in the field
of work.
Good communications skills both written and spoken.
Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas as well as
transfer knowledge and skills.
Leadership and teamwork abilities.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious
and effective working relationships.
Able to work independently and problem solving oriented.
Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office
applications.
Good knowledge management skills
Fluency in English and another UN language is preferred.
