E-DRUG: Measuring quality of pharmacy care in Sierra Leone? (3)

Some idle thoughts -
* I always have a problem when one talks about pharmacy care.
There are pharmacies and pharmacies, big/small, well/poorly
staffed. care/profit oriented etc, etc etc. Is it your intention to
evaluate the work performed by the pharmacist (pharmacists or
pharmaceutical care) or by everyone in the outlet (pharmacy care)?
* Later your refer to pharmacy services. I presume that this would
require a definition of the range of services that you would expect in
a community pharmacy in a developing country? However, in my
experience, this usually becomes a list of activities such as
monitoring, testing services or other activities such as services
relating to immunization or contraception. It may include indicators
to assess the availability of essential drugs. It may even include
delivery and generic substitution services if you are concerned about
accessibility and affordability.
However, I am of the opinion that these services detracts from the
core professional function of identifying and addressing drug related
needs and predicting and preventing drug related problems.
I am sure that others will have different points of view.
