E-drug: Re: Indicators of quality medication use
----------------------------------------------------------
Dear all,
just to follow on from Kirsten's message re indicators of quality medication
use. There has been a lot of work done on this topic in Australia.
The following publications are available:
Manual of Indicators for Drug and Therapeutics Committees 1997
Manual of Indicators for drug use in Australian hospitals 1998
(These are available from NSW Therapeutic Assessment Group Inc., PO Box 766,
Darlinghurst, NSW, Australia, 2010 - there is a cost involved)
Manual of Indicators to measure quality use of medicines in Australia 1995
(these indicators were developed to evaluate the national Policy on Quality
Use of Medicines) The Manual is available from the Quality Use of Medicines
Unit, Pharmaceutical Benefits Branch, Commonwealth Department of Health and
Family Services, GPO Box 9848, Canberra, ACT 2601, Australia.
There have also been indicators for medication use developed which are specific
to nursing practice and community pharmacy, and a project is underway looking
at prescribing indicators for general practice
Kind regards
