E-DRUG: Safe disposal of donations?
-----------------------------------
Dear e-drug users,
Donations seem to constitute a significant portion of the burden of expired
medicines in developing countries.
Usually, operational pharmacy staff expected to get rid of this waste lack
practical information about the various methods we can employ, and when.
The way forward in this dilemma, in addition to other solutions, appears to
provide information in pharmacopoeias. Why not have a section in each
monograph, on the best way of practically destroying substances when they
expire? Of course product leaflets from manufacturers must also contain a
section on how best to destroy the product upon expiry?
