[e-drug] Use of ceftriaxone in poor countries (10)

E-DRUG: Use of ceftriaxone in poor countries (10)
-------------------------------------------

Hi,

Even we face similiar problem in our hospitals. The prescribers just do not bother about saving the higher antimicrobials for emergency use. They blatantly prescribe the newer medicines. Putting restrictions and rationing is not liked by them and they try to sabotage any system that is introduced to control and check irrational use of new generation antimicrobials.

In my opinion, best is not to purchase these so that the same are not available in hospital formulary regularly. However these can be procured locally when there is serious and urgent need for critical patients. Only problem will be that buying locally in small qauntities will come at a higher price but then when the gross oversuse is considered against this, the value earned for humanity is great.
