USAID's Global Health Fellows Program, implemented by Public Health Institute and its partners: Harvard School of Public Health,
Management Systems International, and Tulane University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, is currently recruiting a:
Pharmaceutical Management Advisor (PMA) for the Health Systems Division, Office of Health, Infectious Diseases and Nutrition at USAID headquarters in Washington, DC.
Position Summary: This position will
* provide technical and managerial assistance in the implementation of the Strengthening Pharmaceutical System Program (SPS) and the United States Pharmacopeia Drug Quality and Information (USP DQI) Program;
* contribute to strengthening approaches and strategies and enhancing health system performance in the delivery of priority interventions in reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and TB by improving overall pharmaceutical management, product quality assurance and pharmacovigiliance, pharmaceutical sector governance, medicine use, and pharmaceutical information activities;
* provide technical guidance to the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) component of the USAID's Infectious Disease Strategy by supporting efforts and interventions to combat the development of resistance;
* help increase awareness of the growing public health threat posed by AMR in light of the many global initiatives supplying increased amounts of medicines to developing countries with weak health systems and scare human resource capacity to manage and use them effectively.
Requirements: US citizenship or US Permanent Residency required. The selected candidate will be subject to security investigation.
Advanced degree in public health, pharmacy, or closely related discipline or equivalent. Minimum 5 years working with developing country health programs; clinical patient care experience desired. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and be skilled in
management, teamwork, collaboration, and have the ability to act as liaison among various bureaus and agencies. Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated Computer skills in MS Office Suite applications are required. Must be able to travel to developing countries.
