Description of duties
Develop vaccine procurement strategies and policy papers for poor and middle income countries.
Develop guidelines, tools and procedures for vaccine procurement assessments.
Conduct vaccine procurement systems assessments with NRA and pharmaceutical teams, whenever possible.
Provide technical support to countries to address gaps and failures in vaccine procurement systems and practices.
Develop training programmes, materials and tools.
Conduct regular courses on vaccine procurement.
Prepare regular reports on vaccine procurement and prices in poor and middle income countries.
Advise countries and regions on vaccine procurement strategies and policies.
Process and ensure quality of data related to production, capacity and supply in collaboration with colleagues in Quality,Safety & Standards (QSS).
Analyse and summarize relevant technical information on the vaccine market, production capacity, demand and supply of vaccines.
Develop indicators to measure performance and progress towards global and regional vaccine supply.
Liaise and interact with IVB teams and WHO regional staff to work on adequate demand and supply data for vaccine used in routine, accelerated immunization strategies and epidemic control activities.
Facilitate the exchange and dissemination of information on sources of vaccines, prices and supply issues.
Develop and maintain a website corner on vaccine supply and manufacturers.
Coordinate IVB activities on vaccine supply sourcing.
Provide regular information on status of supply and procurement in member states.
Serve as EPI+ focal point on issues related to vaccine supply, technology transfer, vaccine procurement and vaccine pricing.
Any other duties as requested by the supervisors or the team coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education
University degree; Post-graduate education in a field related to this position or equivalent level of experience in
pharmaceutical and/or vaccine procurement.
Competencies
Excellent expertise in vaccine procurement strategies, techniques and procedures.
Good knowledge of UN agency policies and roles in procurement and supply.
Proven ability in complex project management. Strong computer skills and knowledge of main statistical and mapping softwares.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work as a team member.
Experience
At least five years experience working with vaccine procurement at the national and international level.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language.
A written test may be used as a form of screening.
